Description

This is a 45-minute, guide-led general interest tour and discussion highlighting Eastern State Penitentiary’s 142-year history, revolutionary and influential architecture, and the stories of notable individuals, such as Al Capone, who lived and worked in the building. These tours, led by an Eastern State Penitentiary educator, explore Eastern State's complex history, its ongoing relevance to contemporary social issues, and set the stage for conversation about the role of prisons in society today. The guided tour admission also includes mini-tours, exhibits, and art installations.
